HRH PRINCESS WIJDAN

Wijdan is an artist, academic and diplomat. In 1993 she obtained a PhD in history of Islamic Art at the School of Oriental and African Studies (SOAS) at University of London. She has published widely on traditional and contemporary art from the Islamic world, and founded the Royal Society of Fine Arts (1979) and the Jordan National Gallery of Fine Arts (1980), Higher Institute of Islamic Art and Architecture at Al Al-Bait University (Jordan) (1992) and the College of Arts and Design at University of Jordan (2002). From 2006-2011 she was her country’s ambassador to Italy. She has held 33 solo exhibitions and participated in more than 80 group shows; her art works are in the permanent collections of several museums in the U.K., U.S.A. and the Arab world.
