Aziz Al-Azmeh is University Professor at the Central European University, Budapest and Vienna. He was Zayed Professor at the American University of Beirut, and Sharjah professor at the University of Exeter. He has been a long-term fellow of the Institute of Advanced Study (Berlin), the Swedish Institute of Advanced Study (Uppsala), the Collegium Budapest, the Käte Hamburger Kolleg, the Alexander von Humboldt Foundation, recipient of the Bourse Fernand Braudel at the Maison des Sciences de l’Homme (Paris – thrice), and Resident Scholar at the Rockefeller Center for Scholars, Bellagio. He has been visiting professor at Columbia, Yale, Berkeley and Georgetown. He was a member of the board of the UNDP Human Development Reports in the Arab World, and serves on the Board of the Library of Arabic Literature published by New York University Press. He has lectured worldwide.

The center widened its embrace of more friends and lovers of culture through the renovation of a new auditorium. This cultural space was founded and inaugurated and with the generous support of His Majesty King Hamad bin Issa Bin Salman Al Khalifa, King of Bahrain, and designed by international architect David Chiaverini of the PAD firm.
