Sahar El-Mougy graduated from the Department of English at the Faculty of Arts at Cairo University, and currently works there as a professor of English and American poetry. Her work is divided between stories, novels and essays, and she hosts a radio program called “The Search for Gold” which deals with youth writing and psychology. In 2009, she founded along with a group of writers, academics and artists a writing workshop focusing on issues of changing the usual image of women in stories and the media. She has several published stories and novels to her name and has won a number of awards, including the Girls’ Clubs of Sharjah for her novel Daria and the international Cavafy Poetry Prize named after the famous Greek poet.

The center widened its embrace of more friends and lovers of culture through the renovation of a new auditorium. This cultural space was founded and inaugurated and with the generous support of His Majesty King Hamad bin Issa Bin Salman Al Khalifa, King of Bahrain, and designed by international architect David Chiaverini of the PAD firm.
