A Damascus-born Palestinian poet, Ghayath Al-Madhoun immigrated to Sweden in 2008 and now lives between Berlin and Stockholm. He has published four poetry collections in Arabic, as well as two books that have been translated into Swedish, as well as an anthology of poetry entitled The Road to Damascus in Dutch. His poems have been translated into many languages, and his fourth collection of poetry, Adrenaline, was longlisted for the Best English Translated Book Award in the 2018 poetry category.

When his soul left his body and this world, he left a house for poetry, a place for his things, and walls where the poetry he loved would remain. The Bahraini poet Ibrahim Al Arrayed, and all those who (followed) him in his literary journey and translated works, were retained by the Sheikh Ebrahim bin Mohammed Al Khalifa Centre for Culture and Research in his city which he belonged, Manama. For it was the house of fame, as the first among the homes of cultural centers outside the city of Muharraq.
