A Bahraini writer, academic and cultural critic, Khadhim earned a PhD in Arabic Literature from the Cairo-based Institute for Arab Research and Studies of the League of Arab States in 2003, a Master’s degree in Modern Criticism from the University of Bahrain in 2001 and a BA in Arabic Language and Literature from the University of Bahrain in 1995. He is considered one of the foremost cultural authorities in Bahrain, and indeed the GCC Gulf and wider Arab world. He authored many articles that were published in various print and online media and participated in numerous intellectual events and symposia. In addition to his full-time job as a professor at the University of Bahrain, he also served as editor-in-chief of Awan magazine at the University of Bahrain until 2003 and currently serves as editor-in-chief of Cultures magazine at the university.
