He was a lawyer and a journalist who took part in many Arab and international poetry festivals. He wrote dozens of articles on poetry, politics, fiction, literary criticism, and the visual arts. Qarni was a member of several cultural institutions, including the Egyptian Writers Union, the Cairo Atelier of Writers and Artists, the Board of Trustees of the Ministry of Culture’s Ahmed Shawky Center and the House of Poetry, and the Board of Trustees of Karma Ibn Hani.
