Khaled Mohamed Zaki El-Balshi is an Egyptian journalist, writer, and syndicate leader, currently serving as the head of the Egyptian Journalists Syndicate. He graduated from the Faculty of Mass Communication at Cairo University and worked for several newspapers, including “Al- Dustour” and “Al-Badeel.” After the January 2011 revolution, he founded and edited several online news websites, such as “Al-Wadi,” “Al-Bidaya,” and “Darb.” He received the Nelson Mandela Freedom Prize in 2017. In March 2023, he was elected as the head of the Journalists Syndicate and is a former board member and chairman of the Freedom Committee.

From the idea of a house that opens its door to the cultures and sciences of the peoples, to the house whose owner used to write and gather what happens in the place and outside it … the house of Abdullah Al Zayed was the first to found journalism in Bahrain with a modern press and library. He was also the first to open a cinema. He was the only editor who worked passionately to publish the weekly Bahrain Newspaper, and even encouraged aspirants to write about literature and culture.
