The deeper issue in building and creating a leader lies within the individual themselves. They are either aware of possessing the qualities that qualify them for leadership but resist opportunities due to fear and lack of courage, or they are unaware of these qualities because they have not searched for them within themselves and have not had the proper opportunities to test them. As a result, the leader’s potential remains dormant inside them and fades over time. The issue takes two directions: The first is individual, highlighting the lack of self-awareness and recognition of one’s abilities. The second is institutional, evident in the absence – perhaps unintentionally – of the organization in identifying hidden leadership potentials. Therefore, stimulating ambition and reinforcing self-belief are the first steps in discovering the hidden leader within. These questions open up vast opportunities for us to explore the essence of Aref Al-Ruwaei’s book.
