Jahida Wehbe, an exceptional voice often called the “Poetess of Sound,” restored a distinctive presence to Arabic song through a career that combines singing, acting, and writing. She holds advanced diplomas in Oriental singing, acting, and directing, and studied the oud, Syriac and Byzantine chanting, and Quranic recitation. She has composed and performed over 70 works ranging from classical and Sufi to jazz, inspired by leading Arab and international poets. Wehbe represented Lebanon at international festivals, sang with renowned orchestras worldwide, and received prestigious awards including the “Munir Bashir Prize for Creativity.” Cambridge University also named her among the 2,000 most prominent intellectual figures of this century.
