Farouk Goweda, an Egyptian poet and journalist, was born in Kafr El-Sheikh and spent his childhood in Beheira. He graduated from the Faculty of Arts, Department of Journalism, in 1968, and began his career as an economic editor at Al-Ahram newspaper, later becoming its Deputy Editor-in-Chief. He currently serves as the Head of the Cultural Section at Al-Ahram. Goweda is one of the prominent voices in contemporary Arabic poetry, writing across various forms from classical verse to poetic theater. He has published 20 books, including 13 poetry collections and 3 successful poetic plays: The Minister in Love, Blood on the Kaaba Curtain, and The Khedive.
