Prof. Ahmed Abdullah Zayed was appointed Director of The Great Library of Alexandria in August 2022, and is a member of the Egyptian Senate. Since graduating, he has worked at the Faculty of Arts at Cairo University and has held many administrative and academic positions over the past years, most notably as a cultural advisor in Saudi Arabia, and as Dean of the Faculty of Arts at Cairo University. Dr. Ahmed Zayed has received many awards, including the State Award for Scientific Excellence in Social Sciences, the State Appreciation Award in Social Sciences, the Cairo University Award for Scientific Excellence, and the Al Owais Cultural Award. Dr. Zayed has been participating in general cultural work by writing periodically in newspapers and magazines, participating in many conferences and seminars, and has a biweekly article in Al-Ahram newspaper.
