Samih Onsi Sawiris is one of Egypt’s most prominent businessmen and the Chairman of Orascom Hotels and Development. He is the son of Anwar Sawiris, the founder and chairman of the Orascom Group, and the middle son in a diversified business family. Sawiris holds a diploma in Mechanical Engineering from the Technical University of Berlin. He developed the resorts of El Gouna and Taba Heights on the Red Sea, earning him the nickname “The Emperor of Tourism.” Sawiris also began expanding internationally by establishing several tourism projects in the United Arab Emirates and Morocco.
