Academic, writer, diplomat and Minister of Higher Education in Tunisia, Dr. Abdulsalam Al-Masdi was born in Sfax. He holds degrees in Arabic Language and Literature since 1979. Widely considered to be one of the foremost researchers in the field of linguistics and language, Dr. Al-Masdi is a member of the Tunisian Writers Union and has a distinguished career diplomatic field, serving as Tunisia’s delegate to the League of Arab States and ambassador to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. He is a member of the Arabic language academies in Tunis, Libya, Damascus and Baghdad. He also won many awards, including the Sultan Al-Owais Prize for Literary Criticism 2009.
