Ahmed Farouk Ghoneim is Professor of Economics at the Faculty of Economics and Political Science, Cairo University, and a research fellow at the Economic Research Forum, with extensive experience as a consultant to international organizations including the World Bank, WIPO, UNDP, and the Arab League. He holds a PhD in Economics from the University of Erlangen–Nuremberg and specializes in trade policy, multilateral and regional trade integration, the WTO, and the economics of intellectual property, with numerous internationally published studies. He has held senior academic and executive roles, including advisor to Egypt’s Ministers of Trade and Industry, Cultural Counselor of Egypt in Germany and Austria (2014–2018), first CEO of the National Museum of Egyptian Civilization (2020–2024), and, since October 2024, first CEO of the Grand Egyptian Museum, in addition to serving on the boards of several cultural and economic institutions.
