beautiful face of Muharraq, just as the Sufi’s traditions and their love of life have been revived.
The house of fine artist Abdullah Al-Muharraqi in the heart of old Manama is a veritable archive of a city’s memory of beauty and arts. The Shaikh Ebrahim bin Mohammed Al Khalifa Centre for Culture and Research has transformed this landmark into a museum that documents and narrates the artist’s life and prodigious body of work, in an attempt to continue breathing hope and inspiring generations of artists to come.
Dedicated to the life and times of the late Shaikh Isa bin Rashid Al Khalifa, the house, which is part of the Shaikh Ebrahim Center for Culture and Research, will serve as a cultural landmark through its archival collection of his possessions and achievements. Sitting parallel to Abdullah Al-Zayed House for Bahrain’s Press heritage, it would be wonderful for it to be part of an all-encompassing inspiring trail of historical houses dedicated to the legacies of luminaries who shaped Bahrain’s cultural history.

In recognition of his immense contributions, the Shaikh Ebrahim bin Mohammed Al Khalifa Centre for Culture and Research looks to preserve his legacy, from his early days in Freej Al-Fadil in Manama to his towering achievements later in his life.
The house will be delicately renovated to include a floral garden and cozy home in which to display his works and bring them to life using recordings of Kamal himself. Designed by Swiss architect Valerio Olgiati, the location is inspired by the jasmine flowers that will serve as a gathering place for the community.

Through the Shaikh Ebrahim bin Mohammed Al Khalifa Center for Culture and Research, the original architectural details of this fine house feature displays of the artist’s splendid works, including fine examples of his pencil and charcoal drawings. Famously, Dr. Baqer’s cultural scholarship earned him a doctorate degree in 1992 for his thesis Research and Studies into the Arts and their History in Bahrain.
This dream project is more than just an example of cultural architecture, but the memory of a towering artistic and human figure whose works inspired the entire world.
In the house where Teacher Nassif lived when he came to work as an instructor in the American Mission and teach Christians in the Kingdom of Bahrain, a beacon of love and coexistence. The family, which left its original residence a long time ago, bought it back to serve as a place which embodies the spirit of tolerance.
In cooperation between Dr. Dawoud Nassif and the Shaikh Ebrahim bin Mohammad Al Khalifa Center for Culture and Research, the original house will live on to retrace the story from its very beginning and illustrate the profound beauty, love and coexistence that characterize the old city.
