In the house where the men paddle, in the company of divers, in the pursuit of life and pearls. A place known among the people as Nukhidha.

Sheikh Ebrahim bin Mohammed Al Khalifa Centre for Culture and Research flourishes with the return of the Nukhidha from the heart of the house, built by Jassem Ajaj, and where he received visitors and divers who came to Bahrain during main diving season, known as The Great Dive.

The gorgeous restoration of this character’s life was accomplished while preserving the simple architectural details of the house. The outer walls are uneven; and the badkeer on its north and west sides funnels fresh air inside. And from here it procreates, specifically, an entire life, with its holdings, rituals, and view of life between the sea and the dry land, with its structure which was restored with the support of Al Gosaibi family. This project, which aims to recapture daily life in at a time when pearls drove the economy of the island, was included on the UNESCO World Heritage Site list in 2012.
