Opened on: January 2018
To carry out its initiatives and activities, the Search Center partners with leading scientific institutions in the Kingdom of Bahrain, namely the University of Bahrain, as well as leading GCC and global scientific institutions such as The European Organization for Nuclear Research (CERN), which is considered one of the largest research centers in the world of its kind.
This project was funded with generous support of the late Emir of Kuwait, His Highness Shaikh Sabah Al- Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah.
Achievements of the search center:
The center began implementing an ambitious plan in cooperation with the University of Bahrain and CERN. The partnership resulted in CERN’s first-ever scientific exhibition in the Middle East in February 2019. The event, “CERN in Bahrain,” was so successful that led to it being subsequently held in Kuwait under the name “CERN in Kuwait” in cooperation with the Center for Scientific Progress and Kuwait University on November of the same year.
In addition, the Center conducted specialist workshops for academics in the field of physics and high school students to support its mission of developing and promoting basic sciences. .It also supported several University of Bahrain students on special mission to CERN to complete scientific projects related to the muon detector experiment, which is part of the Large Hadron Collider.
The Center issued an Arabic version of the Large Hedron Collider Handbook, as well as a translation of the CERN Impact Handbook in Arabic and two books on the fundamental particles and forces in the universe.
