Location Manama
Opens On Sat - Thur, 8:00am - 1:00pm | 4:00pm - 7:00pm

Opened on: April 2006

When his soul left his body and this world, he left a house for poetry, a place for his things, and walls where the poetry he loved would remain. The Bahraini poet Ibrahim Al Arrayed, and all those who (followed) him in his literary journey and translated works, were retained by the Sheikh Ebrahim bin Mohammed Al Khalifa Centre for Culture and Research in his city which he belonged, Manama. For it was the house of fame, as the first among the homes of cultural centers outside the city of Muharraq.

This house was transformed from the private residence of Al Arrayed to the house of poetry from every place, hosting gatherings of poets and poetry meetings, in addition to small facilities where the visitor can listen to Al Arrayed’s poetry, and readings of Arabic commentary. Visitors can also tour the library that contains many poetry books from all over the world, as well as the personal office of Ibrahim Al Arrayed and his personal effects.

The House of Poetry is a spatial memory dedicated to the poet Ibrahim Al Arrayed who enriched the Arabic language with his poetic success and his translations of Khayyam. They have been cared for through the purchase and restoration of the house with the generous support of Sheikha Suad Al Sabah, Arab Fund for Economic and Social development, Gulf Finance House.
