From the idea of a house that opens its door to the cultures and sciences of the peoples, to the house whose owner used to write and gather what happens in the place and outside it … the house of Abdullah Al Zayed was the first to found journalism in Bahrain with a modern press and library. He was also the first to open a cinema. He was the only editor who worked passionately to publish the weekly Bahrain Newspaper, and even encouraged aspirants to write about literature and culture.

Here, the press was the first opening of the Sheikh Ebrahim Center. For the little house has been sitting on the corner of the road for a hundred years has been restored to a place that honors the history of Bahraini journalism, a place to collect the culture and secrets of press, its operations and creativity with the same hand that started it. This beautiful cultural structure is characterized by design and architectural details that recall the house of the founder of the Bahraini press, including the place that comprised his workshop and laboratory where he worked on his press and cultural achievements.

The house was opened in November 2003 with the generous support of His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, Crown Prince, Deputy Supreme commander of the Bahrain Defense force and Prime Minister, Bank of Bahrain and Kuwait, National Bank Bahrain and the Bahraini-Kuwaiti Insurance Company, Abdulla Kanoo and Mai Al Khalifa.
