A Tunisian singer, Ghalia Ben Ali began her artistic career in 1992. A well-rounded artists, Benali is a singer, writer, composer, fine artist, painter, designer and actress. Her music is a fusion of different genres that link together disparate cultures and different eras. Her nicknames include Aambassador of Arab Culture and Granddaughter of Om Kulthoum, and her concerts were ranked among the top 10 most popular live shows of 2013 by the New York Times. She also won the World of Music Award in the category of Best International Song from the Independent British Organization in 2008, Best Actress award in Spain in June 2016 by the Women for Africa Foundation. She also won Best Actress award from the African Film Festival Ecran Noir for her role in the film Fatwa by Tunisian director Mahmoud Ben Mahmoud. She has released more than nine albums to date, as well as five movies, a number of Egyptian television series, and musical and art exhibitions.
