Maxwell Anderson earned a Ph.D. degree from the Department of History of Art and Architecture at Harvard University. As the former president of the Association of Art Museum Directors, he spent seven years as a curator of Greek and Roman Art at the Metropolitan Museum of Art, and later served as the director at five art museums, including the Whitney Museum of American Art and the Dallas Museum of Art. He has published dozens of articles and two books, including “Antiquities: What Everyone Needs to Know” (Oxford University Press). In 2013, he was the founding chairman of the Global Cultural District Network, an international association encompassing over 50 districts, and is today its Chairman Emeritus. Anderson focuses on bringing to market artworks lost to history and developing large-scale cultural heritage projects.
