Sabiha Al Khemir earned a PhD in Islamic art and archaeology from The University of London in 1990. She works as an independent museum consultant specializing in Islamic art and lectures internationally. She is a consulting scholar at the University of Pennsylvania Museum of Anthropology and Archaeology. She has curated several large-scale exhibitions of Islamic Art around the world, has consulted for the Metropolitan Museum, and has taught Islamic art at The British Museum. In 2008, she received an award from The United States President’s Committee on Arts and Humanities “in recognition of her work in cultural bridging.” She has an extensive publication record, including scholarly articles, several critically acclaimed exhibitions, and collection catalogs.
