Luis Monreal is the Director General of the Aga Khan Trust for Culture. He is a restoration specialist, art historian and archaeologist. He worked in many institutions, including Curator of the Barcelona Museums between 1965-1974 and Secretary General of the International Council of Museums between 1974-1985. He is a member of many archaeological missions in Nubia, Sudan, Egypt and Morocco. Monreal has written many books and articles on art and archeology. He is a member of the Board of Directors of the Gala-Salvador Dali Foundation in Spain, a member of the Royal Academy of Fine Arts in Barcelona, Spain, a commissioner of the Association of Arts and Letters in France, and a member of the Orden de Isabel la Católica in Spain.
