An Egyptian-American scientist, El-Baz worked at NASA to help plan geological exploration of the moon, including selecting landing sites for the Apollo missions and training astronauts to choose suitable samples from the lunar soil and bring it to Earth for analysis and study. El-Baz is a Research Professor and Director of the Center for Remote Sensing at Boston University in Boston, Massachusetts. He is also an Adjunct Professor of Geology at Ain Shams U niversity in Cairo, Egypt. El-Baz is also a member of the Board of Trustees at the American Geological Society F oundation in Boulder, Colorado, and a member of the Board of Directors of the CRDF Global and a member of the U .S.

The center widened its embrace of more friends and lovers of culture through the renovation of a new auditorium. This cultural space was founded and inaugurated and with the generous support of His Majesty King Hamad bin Issa Bin Salman Al Khalifa, King of Bahrain, and designed by international architect David Chiaverini of the PAD firm.
