Farouk El-Baz is an Egyptian-American scientist working at NASA to help plan the geological exploration of the moon, such as selecting landing sites for Apollo missions and training astronauts to select suitable moon soil samples to bring back to Earth for analysis and study. El-Baz is considered one of the most foremost space scientists in the world thanks to his numerous important scientific discoveries and achievements. He held top scientific posts that earned him significant international status. He was especially interested in deserts, researching its treasures and revealing many of its secrets over the course of his studies.
