The “Artist Minister” Farouk Hosni was not just the Egyptian Minister of Culture, for his fame reached well beyond the Arab world thanks to his cultural achievements in various fields, such as education, museums, antiquities and the Egyptian and Arab cultural movements. He held his ministerial post for a quarter of a century after heading the Palace of Culture in Alexandria and the Egyptian Academy of Arts in Egypt and Rome. He was nominated in 2009 for the post of Director-General of the UNESCO.
The center widened its embrace of more friends and lovers of culture through the renovation of a new auditorium. This cultural space was founded and inaugurated and with the generous support of His Majesty King Hamad bin Issa Bin Salman Al Khalifa, King of Bahrain, and designed by international architect David Chiaverini of the PAD firm.
